Today, I have the great pleasure of introducing you to a brand new brand. The brand is called “BE”. It was created by Sandra Sisley and Nicolas Ouchenir.

Kat: You have just launched the brand “…BE…” with Nicolas Ouchenir. How was the project born?
Sandra : The project was born during the confinement because I was dressing the same all the time: in a sweatshirt and a hoodie. But I wasn’t in the same mood every day. So, I wanted a garment on which you could express your mood of the day. As it was about writing and expression, I thought of my friend Nicolas Ouchenir, who is a calligrapher. He drew and created an alphabet. Then we added the principle of tasks.
K: Through this brand, what message do you want to convey?
Sandra : The message is that we have the right to be as we want to be. “Be” is “to be”; it is to assert oneself; it is to seek oneself. It is, in any case, to assume what one is. The message is to keep the humor, the joy of living despite the difficult times. It’s about bringing a bit of humor into people’s lives. The brand is a brand of solidarity and commitment because it has always been important to me. We have a pretty cool principle. We chose one association per month. This association becomes a partner of …BE… and will have the opportunity to have a hoodie created for it. 100% of the profits of the sales of this hoodie are given to the association. Moreover, on all the other items sold on the website, except the solidarity hoodie, the association gets 10% of the profits of all the sales.
So, it’s a humor project, a mood project but also a solidarity project. And it is also an ethical and organicproject since we are 100% organic cotton, a crazy cotton.
K: Will the association change every month?
Sandra : Yes, exactly. This month, it is the Maison Des Femmes de Saint-Denis. That’s why the “BE93” which is in their honor. Next month, it is the association of which I am the godmother, which I love, which is Geneticancer.
K: Will the associations always have a link with women or not?
Sandra : No, not at all. We’re going to do the bees, the oceans, …
K: You said that the hoodies are 100% organic cotton. Was it important for you that they are made with organic materials?
Sandra : Yes, I think that today, when you launch a brand, you have to be responsible. For existing brands that are in the process of transforming themselves and becoming eco-responsible, it’s another thing because there is a transformation to be done. But on the brands that are being created, I think it’s important to try to make an effort on that side. It’s not “I think”, but “I’m sure”. So that was very important.
K: Do you have any new projects in the pipeline?
Sandra : For the moment, no, because I’m launching a brand. It’s not bad. It’s a project that takes a lot of time for Nicolas, me and my teams. So, it’s a big project. Any new projects in events? No. But it will happen. I hope we’ll get to see each other again, give each other a kiss and a hug.
